Church Creation

In 1965 a group of people came to Newcastle from Bowmanville Baptist church.

1969

They met at Southaven nursing home (now owned by N.F.H.) From there they moved to the basement of Mrs. Enright Store (Now “Mikes Place”). From there the church moved to a portable room at the old Newcastle public school. The McCurdy’s pastored the ministry thus far. Then Doug and Hazel Parker took on the ministry

Spring 1969

The church continued to grow numerically and spiritually. That spring (1969), the school board said they needed this building for school business again. In the meantime our church had begun a building fund that had reached $2,000 (Which in those days houses around Newcastle were selling for less than $20,000).

C.N.R.

We believe that the Lord led up to bid on the old C.N.R. (Canadian National Railway) station on Toronto Street for $100.00; We secured this building, but it needed to be moved. We acquired a vacant lot at the north end of Mill Street for $5,000 (Which at the time was covered in an overall mortgage we took out).

God's Hand...

We were short of money to complete final payment on the property so the church called on the Lord to show us what to do in our regular prayer meeting on Wednesday night.

Early Shepherds

Pastor Doug and Hazel Parker were here when the building was dedicated along with our fellowship president at the time, Rev. Jack Watt and other men form the fellowship office.

Land Ho!

Following Rev. Keith Henderson’s time in the pulpit at Newcastle, Rev. Ronn Young was brought on as Pastor of Newcastle. Ronn’s ministry lasted for over ten years at Newcastle and saw our church family grown and expand (literally out of our small church building on Mill St.).

SDA and the School

We began to use The auditorium at Newcastle Public School to meet in and we soon realized that the rent made it impossible for us to save money in order to build a building of our own in the future. We began to meet in the Seventh Day Adventist church in Bowmanville for a while.

The school of our dreams

We quickly realized that our ministry needed to be back in Newcastle to serve the community that God had called us to. Mr. Paul O’Boyle among others went to look at a school in Newcastle that had been sitting empty.

Jacques Nadeau

Our present Pastor, Rev. Jacques Nadeau and his wife Tatiana have been feeding God’s flock in Newcastle now for over ten years. Under them God has blessed us immensely through many new families being added to our congregation and God moving in a mighty was through the ministries at Newcastle.

Noel Muscutt

In 2010 we were blessed by being able to hire Pastor Noel Muscutt and his wife Regina as associate Pastor to serve alongside Pastor Jacques and our congregation.

The Future...

In the spring of 2012 we broke ground on a new complex to house our growing congregation and in the fall of 2013 we officially opened the doors the our beautiful new auditorium. To God be the Glory.
